From 2000-2008, La Quetta M. Shamblee, CEO of MADCatfish Entertainment, LLC produced the annual "Instrumental Women Lady Jazz Concert Series. The concerts featured a line-up of all-female musicians. The inaugural May 2000 concert played to a sold-out theatre at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood, CA. The Los Angeles Times included the performance in its year-end list of "Best Live Jazz Performances for 2000." During the first 5 years, it was lauded with the L.A. Times Calendar Section "Best Bets" pick for the recommended weekend jazz entertainment venue. The Ford Amphitheatre in the Hollywood Hills was home to the series from 2001-2008.
From 2009-2011, a community "Jazz Theatre Series" was presented at Sierra Madre Playhouse (Sierra Madre, CA). It included the production of several shows that featured woman jazz instrumentalists. |
