Cynthia Busby of Busby Promotions
Producer of After-Hours Juke Joint

This Texas native has been quite busy on the Southern California entertainment for a while.  She worked as a corporate employee for The Los Angeles Times, ConAgra and NESTLE for a number of years, where she was entrusted with planning and coordinating numerous events for staff and dignitaries.  Aside from corporate positions, she has always maintained a connection to Entertainment and has a lengthy track record of involvement with various Civic and Community Organizations and political campaigns.

Cynthia's work in entertainment has entailed wearing many hats, including artist management, promoter, entertainment producer, booking agent, audience development, event planning, publicist and fundraising.  She has a reputation for getting making things happen and is often called upon as the GO TO person.  Her diverse projects have involved working with a number of actors, visual artists, comics, musicians, singers, entertainment/food critic, politicians, sports figures and others seeking greater visibility.  She takes pride in ‘getting the job done!’

She has worked as a publicist / audience developer for plays at the BARNSDALL, VISION Theater, STAGE 52, the Pasadena Playhouse and other venues.  Cynthia has booked celebrities to participate in annual cultural and Christmas parades and festivals in Orange County and Los Angeles County (Black History Month, Cherry Blossom Festival, Christmas Parades, etc.).  One of her favorite was being called upon to provide celebrities for a major boxing match in Las Vegas for one of Don King's productions.  She books celebrities for speaking engagements, special appearances and media interviews.

Cynthia has worked with The NAACP Theater Awards, Provided Celebrities for The Pan African Film Festival, Promoter/Celebrity Bookings - City of Angels Red Carpet Event during BET Weekend, California Sports Hall of Fame, The Salute To Fred Williamson, Music Producer for the African Marketplace, The BACS Awards, The Orange County Chamber of Commerce’s Gala Dinner, NESTLE USA Career Days, NESTLE USA Book Fair, The Mother Love Radio Show, Cal State Fullerton, USC, Cuyahoga College – Cleveland, OH,  Central Avenue commissioned Artist – Michael Massenburg (Jazz Mural). Most recently assisted with promotions for BEYOND THE LIGHTS (directed and written by Gina Prince-Bythewood), GUN HILL (Directed by Reggie “Rock” Bythewood), Grammy Award winning bassist -- Nathan East’s solo CD “Nathan East.”

Here are a few plays that she was proud to work on as publicist or audience developer --- Whatever Happened To Black Love – The Vision Theater, The Marriage  and Jeffrey’s Plan – Stage 52, RAY CHARLES LIVE, SISTER ACT, STORMY WEATHER and FENCES – Pasadena Playhouse; WEIGHTS and WHATEVER HAPPENED TO MY CLITORIS – Los Angeles Theater Center, Three Times A LADY – Barnsdall Gallery Theater.  Most recently promoted Comedienne Luenell’s Birthday Bash in Hollywood; “Comics on the Catwalk in Hollywood, CA and the GBC Annual Toast and Roast honoring actors – Margaret Shug Avery(Being Mary Jane and The Color Purple) and James Pickens, Jr. (the Chief on Greys Anatomy), The City of Angels Celebrity Red Carpet Experience 2015 honoring Hip Hop Artist – Yo Yo’s 25th Anniversary.

Cynthia Busby has provided PR for Dr. Gloria Morrow ,  Eddie Williams (Dining with Class and Style) Eric Butler (Composter/Arranger/Musician and Vocalist) and Artist, Guy Sheppard.  Wearing many hats and getting the job done is what she takes pride in the most – Publicist / Event Planner / Promoter / Notary!   She can be reached at:  Busbypromotions@aol.com
